Safer Spaces

The Spare Rib Safer Spaces Policy

The Spare Rib Burlesque & Cabaret are committed to providing a safer space for all guests, performers and staff. These policies apply to every person in attendance, whether guests, performers or staff.

  • We do not tolerate discrimination of any kind. This includes but is not limited to racism, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, biphobia, ableism, ageism, colourism, classism, fatphobia and xenophobia.
  • Harassment will not be tolerated of any kind, towards anyone.
  • Consent is essential for any form of physical contact including but not limited to kissing, hugging, touching.
  • During any audience interaction, if you do not wish to take part please cross your arms as a symbol of this. If this is not possible please let us know and we will ensure that you are not included in this.
  • Do not make comments about other people’s bodies unless you have their consent. It’s generally ok to tell people their outfits are dazzling or you love their shoes, but please don’t make inappropriate, invasive or negative comments.
  • Do not assume anyone’s gender and respect people’s pronouns. No one owes you any explanation about who they are in order to be respected.
  • Toilets are gender neutral, and an accessible toilet is available, all with menstrual products free of charge. No one will be questioned for using their preferred toilet.
  • We have a pretty loose dress code but please be mindful of those around you. No genitals, nothing discriminatory and no racism or appropriation, please.

By attending our events you agree to cooperate with this policy. If you break any of these rules, you may be at risk of being removed from the event and refunds will not be permitted.

If you experience someone breaking these rules or making you feel uncomfortable in any way, please talk to a member of our team or the venue staff as soon as possible.

You can contact us via email at thesparerib@outlook.com to report any issues at any time.
